Have you seen “Hail! Hail! Rock & Roll?” - the 1987 film of the 60th birthday concert that Keith Richards threw for Chuck Berry? One of my favorite scenes is Bo Diddley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry sitting around a piano talking about the old days.

I’ve now got the DVD (just released) and this new edition includes three bonus DVDs. One has the entire unedited scene of Bo, Richard and Chuck (nearly an hour) instead of just the short clips used in the movie. I’ve watched this disc over and over - it’s priceless.

There’s also a disc of rehearsal footage featuring Johnnie Johnson, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and others. If you haven’t seen this movie go out and get it right now - or let me know if you want to borrow the DVDs sometime.

I SAW IT IN IT'S THEATRICAL RELEASE - BUT THE DVD WITH EXTRA STUFF SOUNDS FAB.

thank you for commenting...it would have been very depressing if no one had left any comments. this guy is the shit - and the image of Little Sister has always been strong with me. in the '70's, i played in an all-black soul band in Clevo, and our bass player was Bonnie Spencer. quiet, lady-like, very church...until she'd put on a gown, heels & droop earings, strap on a P-Bass & shove a stick of Juicy Fruit in her mouth and just kill. a great memory.

By the way, the only time I heard Bo live was at the Cleveland Agora in the 70s before a relatively small audience of maybe 200 or 300 people. He had the middle slot between Alex Bevan and The Clash. What a show!

agreed - i was there too. Bo did this thing i still tell people about. actually two things:

1) he started his first song, and stood stock still, just playing his groove & listening....easily for one or two minutes...then suddenly did this twistywiggle thing with his hips and legs that one would think an old geezer incapable of...then launched into singing. wow...just knocked me out.

2) then, when he finally ended the song, he said "thanks very much for helping Bo Diddley thru 27 years of the rock and roll crisis."
